Single-cell transcriptome landscape of developing fetal gonads defines somatic cell lineage specification in humans
We present the comprehensive transcriptional dynamics of cell types populating the male and female developing gonads at a single-cell level. We recovered the gene expression programs of around 128,000 single cells derived from 17 fetal testes and 16 fetal ovaries from 5 to 12 postconceptional weeks. The resulting dataset provides an unprecedented overview of this key period in sex determination and gonadal development.
