Transcriptome analysis in human testis during ageing
The molecular mechanism allowing the human testis to age without major loss of function remains elusive. In this study, we aimed to investigate the transcriptomic changes taking place in human testis during the ageing process. In order to isolate the effects of ageing, we selected samples with full spermatogenesis and no significant differences in cellular composition. We performed whole transcriptome sequencing and evaluated differential gene expression as well as alternative transcript usage between young (24-31 years old), middle-aged (41-45 years old), and aged (54-75 years old) samples.
