Access will be granted to a research group only when it is intended for purely academic purposes and only when the purpose of the research is in accordance with the consent provided by respective cultural communities of the Philippines (research on Philippine origins, genetic variation, and demographic history).
The data is only intended for non-commercial research use in the laboratory of Recipient Research Group and in connection with the proposed research project outlined above. Recipient agrees that any and all other studies or uses are expressly prohibited and may not be pursued by the Recipient’s research group, any other member of the Recipient’s Department / University, or any other party. The research is purely for academic purposes only and is in accordance with the consent provided by the cultural communities of the Philippines: an investigation on Philippine origins, genetic variation, and demographic history. Recipient and his research group agrees to retain control over the data requested and shall not permit anyone else including any other laboratory within the Recipient access to it. Recipient agrees to comply with all local and state laws, rules, and regulations applicable to the Research Project and the handling of the Research Data. Recipient agrees to publish the results of the Research Project in accordance with academic standards. Recipient agrees to acknowledge the provider and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) of the Philippines in any publications containing any information on the requested data. Recipient agrees not to file any patent, royalties, or other application claiming any rights over the requested data. The Recipient recognize that the ethnolinguistic groups of the Philippines retains their exclusive rights to their genetic resources in accordance to Philippine Laws and Regulations. Pursuant to the agreed guidelines of the NCCA and pursuant to the provisions of ethical application Dnr# 2016/103 approved by the Regional Ethics Review Board of Uppsala, Sweden, Recipient agrees that the data to be transferred shall not be deposited publicly or in an online database. The raw data shall be securely deposited at the Recipient’s Internal Database only for a short term basis. Recipient agrees to delete the requested data after the period of research specified in the application. Recipient agrees that access to raw data shall be made available to any research group only after review and approval by the Regulatory Committee for Access to Philippine Genetic Data composed of members from Mattias Jakobsson Group, Uppsala University, Sweden and NCCA, Philippines.
