Candidate Genetic Variants, Socioeconomic Context, and Academic-Track Selection in an Iranian University Cohort

This study investigated the associations of two candidate genetic variants, rs11584700 and rs4851266, with cognitive performance and academic-track selection in an Iranian university cohort. The study included 307 participants with genotype, demographic, socioeconomic, cognitive, and academic data. Associations between the genetic variants and study outcomes were evaluated alongside contextual factors including socioeconomic status, maternal education, and adaptability. The study was designed to assess candidate genetic associations while recognizing the limited statistical power of a modest sample for detecting small genetic effects on complex educational phenotypes.

Genotype data for rs11584700 and rs4851266 were generated using amplification refractory mutation system polymerase chain reaction (ARMS-PCR). The tab-separated values (TSV) file contains genotype information and non-identifying demographic, socioeconomic, cognitive, and academic variables.
