  In this study, we separately performed PCR-free whole genome sequencing on the paired tumor/normal melanoma COLO-829 and lymphoblastoid COLO-829BL cell lines across three separate institutions (TGen, Illumina, Genome Sciences Centre at the British Columbia Cancer Agency). We performed a meta-analysis of all data, in combination with the originally reported analysis of these cell lines by Pleasance et al., and report a somatic reference standard based on consensus events.   Head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) tumors were sampled from 88 patients. Samples were implanted subcutaenously into the flank of NOD/SCID/IL2R-/- mice. Mice were then monitored weekly for tumor growth and the time of initial palpation was recorded. Mice were euthanized when tumors reached 15 mm in diameter or after 6 months. If no tumor formed by 6 months, the patient tumor was defined as Non-engrafter (N).   Out of the 2,509 Estonian Microbiome Project participants, a sub-cohort of over 300 individuals provided an additional stool sample after a median follow-up period of 4.4 years. All participants of the EstMB cohort gave informed consent for the data and samples to be used for scientific purposes. In the second time point, the participants were instructed to send the samples by post immediately after taking the sample and time their sample collection to avoid shipping on the weekends.
