Using a microfluidic droplet partitioning system, we isolated individual cells of a suspension from a primary solid tumor into droplets. These droplets tag the resultant genomic or transcriptomic material with an identifying barcode that enables bioinformatic single cell tracking. From this joint analysis, we determined the overall level of genomic instability for gastrointestinal cancers as well as transcriptomic consequences from these events.
