Whole exome sequencing was performed for concurrent acute myeloid leukemia (acute megakaryoblastic leukemia) and mediastinal germ cell tumor. Somatic mutations, such as TP53 or PTEN, were commonly identified in both acute myeloid leukemia and mediastinal germ cell tumor, suggesting the common founder clone.
