The Generalitat de Catalunya contributes with funding to the CRG and to the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC). The Barcelona Supercomputing Center is decisively contributing to EGA by providing the required compute, storage and networking resources, as well as key personnel for shared operations of EGA infrastructure. EMBL-EBI As part of the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), the EGA at EMBL’s European Bioinformatics Institute receives funding from the governments of EMBL’s member states. The UK government, via UK Research and Innovation, also continues to support EMBL-EBI technical infrastructure, with EMBL supporting operational costs. A major source of funding for the EGA both at CRG and EMBL-EBI are competitive projects.The EGA resource continues to be funded through strategic engagement in collaborative partnerships and projects.   The morphology of the first humans in the Americas (Paleoamericans) differs from that of Native Americans, and has raised the question of whether or not there are also differences in origin or genetics. A few populations who survived until relatively recently have been suggested to retain Paleoamerican morphology. One of these populations is from La Jolla. Here, we have generated genome sequence data from four La Jolla individuals in order to investigate these questions This data is part of a pre-publication release. • IYDP Indonesian Y chromosome Diversity Project

  Island Southeast Asia and Oceania host one of the world’s richest assemblages of human phenotypic, linguistic and cultural diversity. We compiled ~9.7 Mb of Y chromosome sequence from a diverse sample of over 380 men from this region, including 126 from Indonesian islands, first reported here. The granularity of this dataset allows us to fully resolve and date the regional Y chromosome phylogeny. This improved Y chromosome topology highlights localized events with important historical implications, including pre-Holocene contact between Mainland and Island Southeast Asia, ongoing interactions between Australia and the Papuan world, and a sustained period of diversification following the flooding of the ancient Sunda and Sahul continents as the insular landscape of today formed. The high-resolution phylogeny of the Y chromosome presented here thus enables a detailed exploration of past isolation, interaction and change in one of the world’s least understood regions.
